Bus accident in eastern Cuba kills 5

HAVANA, May 14 (Xinhua) -- A passenger bus fell off a cliff in eastern
Cuba on Monday, killing five people, including a little girl, and
wounding several others, the national police force (PNR) said.
The accident occurred when the vehicle overturned on a slope in the town
of Rafael Freyre, Holguin province, 735 km east of Havana, PNR officer
Juan Carlos Fonseca told Cuban news media.
A team of experts was trying to determine the cause of the accident, he
said, adding that the victims died on the spot.
Road accidents are the fifth leading cause of deaths in Cuba, which
reported 10,553 accidents in 2011, or 1,126 more than in 2010.
Drunken Driving and general recklessness among both drivers and
pedestrians are the main causes of accidents in Cuba, where legislators
are proposing more severe sanctions against these violations.
