XL Airways France Starts Flying to Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 16 (acn) A new connection between Cuba and France was
inaugurated Wednesday with the arrival of the first XL Airways France
flight in the Juan Gualberto Gomez
International Airport, outside well-known resort of Varadero, Matanzas.

The airline will be operating in Cuba until late April 2011, flying from
the Charles de Gaulle International Airport, in Paris, to San Salvador
(Bahamas) and the on to Varadero as the final destination.

XL Airways France will operate a 364-seat Airbus A330-200, reads a press
release by the Cuban Tourism Ministry.

Among tour operators selling the itinerary are Evolution Voyages
(Crystal) and Havanatur Paris, which have 160 seats available for
booking every week.

With the XL Airways France flights to Cuba, Evolution Voyage secures 70
percent of its monthly performance, according to Luis Perez,
representative of the tour operator. Evolution Voyage is the main
promoter of the Cuba Destination in France.

With the new operation, Cuba will see an increase in the number of
French tourists arriving in the island.

France is currently the sixth most important outbound market for Cuba
having sent 64,749 travelers up to October this year .
